The most exclusive collectors set of Pohl Force Movie Knives: MK-8 and MK-9 Custom Edition - THE PROTOTYPES.
Made with the utmost passion and craftsmanship by renowned British custom knifemaker Andy Wood, these unique prototypes are very special collector's items and contemporary witnesses of Pohl Force's movie knife history.
The MK-8 and MK-9 Custom Edition. An exclusive masterpiece!
Without a doubt, the Custom Edition of the MK-8 and MK-9 is the most exclusive version of the two “Last Blood” knives by designer Dietmar Pohl. The designer and CEO of Pohl Force has been a passionate collector of film knives for decades. For him, this project was a special matter of heart: to realize an exclusive custom edition in the tradition of the legendary US knifemaker from Arkansas, Jimmy Lile, who created the first knife for the film series.
For this particular project, he was able to win over none other than the renowned knifemaker Andy Wood. In spring 2020, after months of planning, the first knives of the Pohl Force MK-8 and MK-9 Custom Edition were finished - true masterpieces.
In addition to classic materials such as deep black ebony and finest Italian leather, state-of-the-art materials are also used: solid titanium, green canvas composite and the highalloy carbon steel Niolox from the renowned German manufacturer Friedrich Lohmann. The custom versions not only impress with their masterful craftsmanship, they also impress with their fascinating attention to detail.
The hand-applied longitudinal satin twotone finish of the blade or the mirror-polished cutting bevel are just two of the outstanding features. Another very special detail of the Custom Edition is the leather sheath, which is an exact reproduction of the design of the first prototype leather sheaths used in the filming. Due to the exceptionally short lead time before the start of filming in autumn 2018, the streamlined design that Dietmar Pohl had planned and which was later chosen for the CNC editions was not possible to realize.
The leather sheaths, handmade by knifemaker Andy Wood from the finest Italian leather, complete the exclusive custom knives. The originally planned limited edition of only 100 pieces each unfortunately had to be discontinued due to the unpredictable and extremely long production and delivery times as well as the consequences of BREXIT. Less than 30 pieces each were realized in elaborate one-off manufacturing.

The Custom Edition prototypes - very special collector's items and contemporary witnesses of film knife history!
After the intensive planning phase, which began at the end of 2018, only six prototype sets were produced. These prototypes were almost the final version, with only minor changes being made: the finely engraved Pohl logo on the blade ricasso was slightly modified, and the marking on the leather sheaths was also changed.
Besides the personal pieces of the designer Dietmar Pohl and the knifemaker Andy Wood, as well as the handover of the number #2 to the main actor, the others prototypes were kept in the company archive of Pohl Force. In January 2025, there will be a unique opportunity to purchase the sets with serial numbers #4, #5 and #6.
In the fall of 2018, Dietmar Pohl and his team traveled to the film set for the presentation and handover of the knives - an unforgettable moment of film knife history. Carefully protected in two Peli Cases, two of the most important secondary actors were also in their luggage: the two MK-8 and MK-9.
All three prototype sets will also be delivered in a Peli Case - the perfect protection and place of presentation. Each case is individually labeled by hand. Opening the case reveals a masterpiece: the two exclusive, numbered prototypes are presented in custom-made foam cut-outs.
The two leather sheaths and the leg straps are located on the lower level.
The scope of delivery also includes a unique portrait of Dietmar Pohl showing the original truck from the film, taken in the barn of the original film set.
The high-quality picture print on 325 g/m² Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta is personally signed by designer Dietmar Pohl. A special certificate, printed on handmade paper - produced according to a 2000-year-old tradition, confirms the authenticity of these two prototypes. All three MK-8 | MK-9 3-D patches are included.
At the request of the future owner, Dietmar Pohl will be happy to sign the leather sheaths with his signature and the corresponding prototype number.
